Aula não presencial - Semana 06
Aula 06- Inglês

Hi guys! What’s up?
Today we will work with another text about Intelligence. I will translate some words but you can use your dictionary or an online dictionary too.
More than One kind of Intelligence
You may (pode) have heard (escutado) people mention “IQ” when talking (falando) about (sobre) intellect and how smart (esparto) someone is. (For example, “My brother doesn’t need to study as much as (tanto quanto) I do because he has a really high (alto) IQ”.  IQ stands for (significa)  “intellectual quotient”. It can predict (prever) how well someone may do academically.
IQ is just (apenas) one measure (medida) of our abilities. There are many other kinds (tipos) of intelligence in addition to (além de) intellect (intelecto). For example, spatial intelligence is the ability to think (pensar) in 3D. Musical intelligence is the ability to recognize rhythm (ritmo), cadence (cadência), and tone. Athletic, artistic, and mechanical abilities (habilidades) are other types of intelligence.
One important type of intelligence is emotional intelligence.
What is Emotional Intelligence?
Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand (entender), use, and manage (administrar) our emotions. Emotional intelligence is sometimes called (chamada) EQ or EI for short (abreviado). Just as a high IQ can predict top test scores (pontuações), a high EQ can predict success in social and emotional situations. EQ helps (ajuda) us build (construir) strong (duradouros) relationships (relacionamentos), make good decisions (decisões), and deal with (lidar com) difficult situations.
One way (maneira) to think (de pensar) about EQ is that it’s part of being people-smart (bom no relacionamento interpessoal). Understanding (entendendo) and getting along (dando-se bem) with people helps us be successful in almost (quase) any (qualquer) area of life (da vida). In fact, some studies show (mostram) that EQ is more important than IQ when it comes to (quando se trata) doing well in school or being successful at work (no trabalho).
Some people have naturally good EQ skills (habilidades). Others need (precisam) to work on them. The good news (notícias) is that everyone can get better (melhorar). Unlike (diferente de) IQ, people can actually (na verdade) improve (melhorar) their emotional intelligence – if they know (sabem) what to do.
