Hi guys! What’s up? Another text for you. Before, let me explain the differences of texts:

Factual text: merely (meramente) seeks to inform (procura informar) something. Factual text is concerned (diz respeito) with facts or contains facts.

Literary text: A literary text seeks to entertain (procura entreter) the reader (o leitor) by using creative language and imagery (imagens).

Persuasive text: It is a text, which the mains purpose (propósito principal) is to present a point of view (ponto de vista) and seeks to persuade (procura persuadir) the reader. A persuasive text can be an argument, exposition, discussion, review (crítica) or even (mesmo) and advertisement (anúncio).

3. Read the excerpt below. What does it mean? (Leia o texto abaixo. O que quer dizer?) If they asked what she did, she would say vaguely, “I write a lifestyle blog”.
a)People used to (costumavam) ask her about her job (ocupação), but don’t do it anymore (não mais)
b) People always (sempre) ask her about (sobre) her job, but she never (nunca) answers (respondia).
c) In the event of being asked (ser perguntada), her answer would not be accurate (precisa/exata). 

4. What is the title of the blog mentioned in the text? (Qual é o título do blog mencionado no texto?)
5. What is the blog mentioned about? (Sobre o que o blog fala?)
a. Ethnicity issue (questão de etnia) in the United States.
b. Prejudice (preconceito) against (contra) black immigrants in the United States.
6. What is the best translation for vaguely in the text? (Qual é a melhor tradução da palavra ‘vaguely’?)
7. What is the motive for her to answer vaguely? (Qual é o motivo dela ter respondido ‘vaguely”?)

a. People would feel uncomfortable (desconfortáveis) if she didn’t (se ela não tivesse).
b. People would laugh (rir) is she didn’t.
